Therapy for Individuals & Couples

Individual Therapy

My approach to individual therapy varies depending on your specific needs. Sometimes our sessions will feel conversational, other times more structured.

In cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) & exposure therapy with response prevention (ERP), you will be asked to complete work between sessions. That typically isn’t the case with traditional talk therapy.

For either approach, the basics are the same: you’ll come into our office (or join via a secure zoom link) and spend 50 minutes with your therapist at least once per week.

Consistency is critical; we understand life happens, and there will be missed sessions, but the more consistently we meet the quicker we are able to get to know you, your specific challenges, and help you make meaningful change.

When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.

Couples Therapy

I love working with couples. As humans we are hard-wired to seek connection with others, and for many of us, intimate partnerships are the most meaningful of those connections.

They can also make us feel the most vulnerable.

When there’s trauma or disconnection in an intimate relationship it can lead to feelings of anxiety, anger and abandonment. Most of the couples I have treated have repaired their relationships on my couch and found renewed connection.

Sometimes, however, partners decide that their wounds are too deep to heal within the relationship.

In those cases I support couples as they examine what led to the end of the relationship, grieve the loss, and move forward with mutual respect. This can also involve co-parenting support. It is difficult work and I have deep respect for couples who honor the time they had together by consciously and lovingly separating.

I have experience working with the LGBTQ+ community and non-traditional relationships and approach every couple with curiosity and acceptance.

FAQs

  • Sessions are typically 50 minutes in length, and most clients are seen on a weekly basis (more frequently when additional support is needed). Appointment days/times are usually consistent week to week, however some of our clients have unpredictable work schedules and we do our best to accommodate.

  • Fees range between $150-$250/session. (A reduced fee may be negotiated with your therapist on a case-by-case basis.)

  • My practice currently doesn’t accept insurance directly; we are recognized as out-of-network providers and can produce a master bill for you to submit to your own insurance for potential reimbursement pending details of your specific plan.

  • I have a 24-hour cancellation policy; clients missing a session within that window will be charged their full session fee. That policy is in place to protect my time and encourage consistency, but I try to be as flexible as possible when situations arise that can’t be avoided (such as illness, a household emergency, etc.).
